Alright, I can admit it. Things are not moving as quickly as we had hoped. It's very difficult to work/commute 65 hours per week then try to come home and be creative. I find that inspiration comes at very inopportune times (note, it's Sunday night and all of a sudden I feel the urge to create a facebook account for Blend Teas AND update the blog). Go figure. This will be short. Because quite frankly, while I would have a lot of time if I'm fired from my day job, I do think it would be more beneficial if I go about it in the correct way. And so, I'll call this a night. Get a good night's sleep. Try to be inspired again tomorrow....
...Tthis will NOT be in another month. I hope.
A glimpse at our process of starting from scratch to owning an online business....and the bumps along the way.

the ball is rolling....
Alright, so I'm a little tardy in updating our progress. Things to check off the list: fictitious name through the county, knowledge of required permits, contact with supplier, ordering inventory AND....RECEIVING inventory! Yes, it's true! our bedroom is now filled with boxes of tea! it's amazing how different it feels once you see the actual product. all i can say is that I am dying to get this going. thankfully, summer break is just around the corner and i should be able to immerse myself in tea culture and the life of a small business owner. i plan on keeping you all updated on our discoveries.
the task now is to find the actual packaging. do we want to use tins? do we want to use foil-type bags? we have a friend/contact who will be helping us with stickers and advertisement, so that's one less thing to worry about. he does amazing work, so i know it will look fantastic. another thing that is consuming me is determining where and how we will store these bags. you forget just how light tea is and consequently, it's a rather large packages that one must store.
so, must continue this another night. need to write the info for the webpage! :)

the journey begins
online tea? really? that's the initial question when we present our business plan to friends....but as we further explain ourselves, we find those astonished friends are now beginning to nod in approval...what a great idea! so, this blog will serve two, maybe three purposes. one, to document our journey - the trials and tribulations; two, to further motivate us to continue (i'll convince myself that we have avid readers who are just DYING to know of our progress); and three, to get our name out there. yes, i'll admit it, that is certainly a factor.
so, where are we? at this point, we have the website under construction - www.blendteas.com - and we do not have product on there. we are jumping through all appropriate hoops in order to start this business on the up-and-up. at this point, we DO have a tax id, which makes me feel as though we are making progress. next step is to head to the county office and determine what permits/licenses/etc are required of a home business.
oh ya, and we're sampling tea. that's my favorite type of research. i must say, and not even intentionally plugging our product, but once you have tasted the loose leaf variety, you will MUCH prefer it to the bagged variety. mmmm....tasty. the company that we are using to supply ourselves has the most AMAZING english breakfast blends which i hope to incorporate into our product line. YUM.
so, that's the general gist of where we are right now. more to come!
